About this tool

When someone finds your page in Google or shares it in a chat, the first thing they see is a title, a short description and usually an image. Those come from a few tags in the page’s HTML: the title tag, the meta description and the Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image). If they are missing, too long or pointing at the wrong image, the page looks broken before anyone clicks.

This checker reads the live page once through our server, lists every tag it finds and flags what to fix: missing or duplicate tags, titles that are likely to be cut off, a noindex setting, a canonical pointing elsewhere, and share images that are too small, the wrong shape or too heavy. The image checks follow Meta’s published guidance for link shares (at least 1200×630 pixels for sharp display, 600×315 for a large preview, 8 MB maximum) and X’s card rules.

The previews are close approximations, not screenshots. Google often rewrites titles and snippets, and each platform changes its layout from time to time. Use the edit boxes to try a shorter title or a clearer description and watch the previews update before you change anything on your site.

How to use it

  1. Paste the full address of the page you want to check and press Check page.
  2. Read the What to fix list, starting with items marked Fix.
  3. Look at the previews for Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp.
  4. Edit the title and description boxes to test new wording.
  5. Copy the fixed tags and add them to your page or SEO plugin.

FAQ

Questions about this tool.

01 Why does Google show a different title from my title tag?

Google can rewrite titles when it thinks another line on the page describes it better, for example when a title is very long, stuffed with keywords or the same on many pages. A clear, specific title that matches the main heading is rewritten less often.

02 What size should my og:image be?

Use 1200×630 pixels, in JPG or PNG, under about 1 MB. That shape (1.91:1) works for Facebook, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp. Meta's minimum is 200×200 pixels, and below 600×315 Facebook shows a small thumbnail.

03 I fixed my tags but Facebook or LinkedIn still shows the old preview. Why?

Platforms cache link previews. Use Meta's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector to fetch the page again. For a new image, use a new image file name, because the old image URL may stay cached.

04 Is the character count or the pixel width more important?

Google cuts titles by display width, not by a fixed number of characters, so wide letters use up the space faster. The pixel estimate here is a guide based on common desktop layouts; Google does not publish an exact limit.

05 Do you store the pages I check?

No. The page is read once through our server so your browser can analyse it, and the response is cached for about ten minutes to keep the tool fast. Nothing you type is saved.
